I try to catch up on reading blogs on my subscribers list on weekends, and today I got a kick out of reading Tipper's post on "bobby pins" at the Blind Pig and the Acorn. It made me remember how important bobby pins were to hairdos of the fifties and sixties, but how important it was to never let one of them be seen in our hair . They were tools to create with but not for decoration. Read more about bobby pins and if they are coming back here.

ReplyDeleteI remember those days well, but the photos jog the memory. We danced to records on a small player. On the far right is my youngest brother and his first love.
Dancing was the main activity in our young lives.
I always love your posts. They often serve as prompts for my writing.
I remember my mother putting bobby pins in my hair when I was growing up in the 1960's. At the time, I was reading the Bobsey twins mystery series so I called them Bobsey pins. Mother and I joked about Flossie, Freddie, Nan, and Burt being in my hair.
