So not only did you teach me about writing memoir, you also taught me about reading and thinking about how others write memoir. Thank you so much! Rebecca

Words We Need to Cut

If we write the way we talk, we use words that often do nothing to improve our communication with our reader. I saw this article on a site I am going to share with you.

Are you guilty of using these words in your stories and essays?

  2. This was very helpful Glenda. Thanks for sharing. "Got" always got attention in the critique classes I attended. It didn't take me long to learn that it was a big no-no.

  3. I'm just as guilty as the next person of using these words. This will definitely give me something to think about. Thanks, Glenda, for sharing.

  4. Sam, I think we are all guilty of using these words, and we have "got" to stop and be careful. We use them in our everyday language, so it follows we want to use them when writing.
