It is late and tomorrow morning comes early for me. Wednesday will be fun as we attend Coffee with the Poets at Phillips and Lloyd books in Hayesville, NC. Scott Owens from Hickory will be the guest poet tomorrow. He will sign books at Phillips and Lloyd, Curiosity Shop Books, and will read and sign books at Mountain Perk that evening.
He will really have a long day.
The reading at Mountain Perk at 7:00 p.m. will be especially delightful because Rosemary Royston, a poet I always enjoy, will be sharing the spotlight with Scott. Rosemary writes poetry from a young mother's point of view, from a PK's point of view, and from the mind of a modern woman who creates humorous verses based on pantyhose, power point presentations and so many other things.
Another Writer
Today I had a visit from my friend, Pat Davis, writer of young adult novels. Pat lives in PA, but hails from good old North Carolina. We had a long chat about publishing, building a platform in cyberspace, and finding an agent - the same topics most writers talk about these days.
Saturday, May 15
I hope to see many writers in Asheville Saturday at the Candy Maier Scholarship Foundation Book Fair. I am delighted to know that Joan Medlicott will be there. My sister read one of her books and is now a fan of the Ladies of Coventry.
If you live anywhere near Asheville, come to the Book Fair and support the Candy Fund. Much will be going on besides book signings and book buying. Raffles, silent auctions and gifts were mentioned in the material I received. Please come by and say hello.
So not only did you teach me about writing memoir, you also taught me about reading and thinking about how others write memoir. Thank you so much! Rebecca
