So not only did you teach me about writing memoir, you also taught me about reading and thinking about how others write memoir. Thank you so much! Rebecca

Paul Donovan's Class enlightened us

We met in my studio today, Saturday, and students came through the rain to learn and listen and laugh during Paul Donovan's class on Spiritual Writing. Not knowing what to expect, I was delighted that the seven of us seemed on the save wave length.

I have decided to get back on a routine of meditating again. I believe that meditation will help me to be more open to deeper thoughts and feelings that will enhance my writing.

We had a good time discussing Enneagrams and our position on the chart. We hope to have another class with Paul soon. If you can, you might want to join us.

WRITING WITH SPIRIT

Paul Donovan, friend and Reiki Master, will teach writing classes at Writers Circle Saturdays, August 14 and August 21.
His subject, Writing With Spirit, sounds quite interesting. I’m not into the metaphysical, but I was intrigued when I learned I could go to a website and by doing an online test I could see what it would say about my personality.
I went to www.eneagram.com and found the test which I answered as honestly as I could. Then I checked the result to see what was said about me.

Your main type is Type 2
Your variant is social

I am a Type 2, as you can see above, which means I am uniquely gifted at tuning in on the feelings of others. This makes me good at networking, but by my closeness to other people I can compromise my own needs. My charity for others is a projection of how I want others to care for me.

I agree with this. I am an empathetic person. I feel the sadness, insecurity and the needs of people. I do sometimes put the needs of others ahead of my own. For instance, I recently wrote an article for the newspaper about my guest writer at Writers Circle but forgot to advertise my own class the following week.

In social issues I scored highest on compliant traits, followed by withdrawn traits. I scored lowest on assertive traits. I am not happy with that. I feel that I am more assertive than I’ve ever been in my life. But I’m not as assertive as I could be, I suppose.

The instructions on this page said to take the test several times before reaching a conclusion. It is fun to do and I’ll try it again.

Meantime, I look forward to Paul’s class where we will learn more about ourselves.

He will teach Writing With Spirit, Saturday, August 14, 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. and on Saturday, August 21, noon until 3:00 p.m. at Writers Circle in Hayesville, NC. Contact Glenda Beall, 828-389-4441 for registration information and directions to her studio.
